Comic-Con Smallville Bag Dress

Comic-Con Smallville Bag Dress, originally uploaded by LRG410.

i'll have to see if i can find a better picture.

SDCC 2007

I'm back from the comic con. Saw John Favaru walking around but didn't take his picture because he was with his kids. Also saw Brian Posen, Elvira, Jane Weiden, Lou Fergino. Got Ray Harryhausen's autograph. Made an exquisite corpse book by taking a band saw to a sketchbook. Got lots of drawings for it but need more. i'll take it to stumptown. should have gotten more indy artist, they have a sense of humor and get it right away. Shaenon Garrity, Jill Thompson, Mark Wheatly, John Allison, Ben Edlund, Tim Sale, Matt Wagner, Debbie Huey, Phil Foglio and a few more artist. I have to say that Garrity's drawing is my favorite. It's made me an instant fan. We only went for 2 of the 4 days and it wasn't enough to see everything. Kingdom of Loathing had a booth, but they had closed up before i could get anything. It turns out that Kinkos operates a shipping center from the lobby of the convention. Had i known that before, i would have bought allot more stuff. I did buy one page of Simon Bisley art from FAKK 2 and some indy comics. I wish i would have found a t-shirt to buy. I went to one panel, because to me, it's part of the con experience. I picked on one kid's comics but i'm afraid it wasn't that interesting. about 1/3 of the hour was taken up by people just saying what the first comics they read were. i did get some tips on some titles to check out. i'll have to see how they pan out. WB was hading out huge Smallville bags. I heard that someone had made one into a dress. I wish i had seen it. i'll have to see if i can find a picture.
Thanks to Ben for arranging all of this, i probably wouldn't have gone otherwise.
excuse all the spelling mistakes. i know allot of the names are wrong.

King Dork

i read King Dork, or rather i listened to the audio book. (Library) I liked the book but was a little disappointed by the ending since it seemed to come out of nowhere, but i might have been a little distracted as i listened to it at work. If i was actually reading it, i might have gone back over certain passages. The book is about a high school sophomore with a band and his battle with the "normals" and the cult of Catcher in the Rye. Its kinda like if John Hughes made the movie version of Freaks and Geeks except with the protagonist having some success. I could see the book being a MTV production, i totally seems like something they would make + it was written by the lead singer of the Mr T experience so there's a built in music hook.

new games

bought Treasures & Traps, Let's Kill! (atlas games) and Munchkin Cthulhu.
they all looked good, so i splurged.

i've been shopping on line for a e-reader for animal crossing and was happy to see that nintendo still has series 1 and 4 e-reader packs. but maybe i should hold off if the game is coming to the wii.

oh, and it looks like i'm going to have to send my wii in. the optical drive is having problems and since i already downloaded a VC game (mario cart), they can't just exchange it for another unit.

Review: My super ex-girlfriend

terrible, terrible movie. i'm writing this to warn you to not waste your time on this movie, even if you get the chance to see it for free. you know how some trailers give away the best part of a movie? this one gives away the only joke in the movie. i rented it figuring it would be dumb and funny. it was just dumb. i can't see how Ivan Reitman didn't get his name removed from this movie.

amimal crossing (GC)

so i had played animal crossings years ago as a rental and recently decided to buy it since it was on sale and by buying it, you get a memory card with a NES game included. animal crossing is like the sims, with cute animals. you deliver packages, pay off your house, collect fossils, insects and fish and try to decorate your house with the proper feng shui principals. furthermore, it has a real time calendar aspect to the game. some animals only appear during certian months and holidays are celebrated in the game. i started my new town on the new card and then tried to visit my old town. so my old town is on a third party card i bought and it's been kinda flaky. it seems to only work on my gamecube and i can read it only on the second slot on the wii. unfortunately, animal crossing, like many games will only read the first slot and furthermore, it won't allow me to copy the data to a new card. well, when i tried to travel to my old town, the wii would no longer read the the card. i tried reinserting the card a few times, wiggling this way and that. it read it enough to start a trip and then failed. i reset the machine and tried again. this time it reported that the old town data was corrupt and surprise, as a result i lost all the items i had "on me" including the letter with the NES game and money.
I'm never buying third party hardware again.
