Paranoid Park Before "Milk," Gus Van Sant set out upon another of his small meditations on youth and death and came away with this handsome, attentive and incidentally profound film. The technique is unsurpassed, the acting is sure, and Portland looks absolutely gorgeous.
Wendy and Lucy Another made-in-Portland story about a young person on the edge. But writer Jon Raymond and director Kelly Reichardt have something small and incidental in mind. Michelle Williams' amazing performance strikes deep emotional chords with offhanded poignancy and sureness.
