Genetic uncertainty

TLC had a show the other day title "I am my own twin". I missed half of the show but it involved a case where a mother had to prove that her own children were hers despite the fact that a genetics test said otherwise! It turns out that she was a chimera, an individual formed from the fusion of two zygotes. The interesting thing is that cells throughout the body can be from either zygote. In cases where a male and female combine, a hermaphodite forms. They showed one baby that had a clear line of different colorization in the skin right down the midline of the belly. (it immeditatly brought to mind side show half man half woman imagary)
I wonder how many souls religions would say they have?

If I had the time I would write to somebody and ask (the soul thing). I'm really curious about their answer.

you know someone that would have an opinion about that?

I could ask any religious person. I figure if they were very fundamentalist, they would have to say that yes, there are two souls if they believe that a new soul is created at conception (i.e., if they believe that contraception is murder). But of course, god can do what he wants..maybe the two souls are merged -- or were really one all along...

Unfortunately, my most "fundy" acquaintance isn't around anymore. She actually believed that prayer healed her -within minutes. -- Anyway, long interesting story -- and my comment is too long already.

If I run into anybody, I will ask.

No soul for her, the godless being.
